Getting onto Tor

Getting from zero to the shop takes five simple steps. No plugins or complex relay configurations are needed. Follow the sequence below to connect securely.

  1. Download Tor Browser. Get it only from torproject.org. Avoid third-party mirrors or app stores. Verify the download signature if possible.
  2. Build your circuit. Wait for the browser to finish connecting on first launch. This can take up to a minute depending on your internet speed.
  3. Copy a mirror. Select one of the three addresses from the mirrors page. Ensure the full string copies correctly.
  4. Paste and load. Insert the address into the Tor Browser bar. The first page load builds your specific route and takes longer than usual.
  5. Wait for the queue. Allow the temporary holding page to redirect you into the store. Do not refresh or interrupt the process.
When it stalls. If circuit building exceeds thirty seconds, the issue is likely your local network, not the market. Wired connections build circuits faster and more stably than crowded Wi-Fi networks. Switching to Ethernet often resolves stalled loading times instantly. If the browser gets stuck, resist the urge to hit refresh, because refreshing resets the circuit building process entirely. Let Tor rebuild its path naturally first. If it still fails after a reasonable wait, try a different mirror address instead.
